Page 60 - Spring Book 2020: Finding Peace in a Restless World
P. 60

   some wounds don’t heal
some wounds don’t heal
the smudge of a songbird on the asphalt
yellow wing in flight
the glimpse of a child unborn unrealized
like a faded photograph some wounds don’t heal
friendship denied
friendship betrayed disappointment on a summer day too beautiful for words
some wounds don’t heal
childhood lost childhood found
a nook of an arm
a crane of a neck
kindness insufficient to the task at hand
some wounds don’t heal
like the bird
like the child
like the adult still searching
